The mission of the Section Bioelectronics is to design, invent, and engineer electronic technology for the monitoring, diagnosis and treatment of major diseases. Brain disorders, cardiac and muscular dysfunctions are targeted among others.
To this end, we design and fabricate active biomedical microsystems employing:
We apply this technology on cardiac pacemakers, cochlear implants, spinal cord implants, organs on chip, neurostimulators and other devices that deliver bioelectronic medicine. Recently, together with our clinical partners, we have develop bioelectronic systems that train the brain to 'turn off' tinnitus. We developed a portable box, full of electronics that emits signals, allowing ringing and buzzing brains to learn to be silent again.
We are always open for new collaborations, to put together electronic devices that will improve the quality of life of patients. For more information please visit our website by following this link or by contacting Professor Wouter Serdijn at w.a.serdijn@tudelft.nl
