Today, our Phd student, vet Corina Schram Serban, defended her thesis on the relation between obesity and atrial fibrillation. In her thesis, she is worldwide the first person who analysed electrical changes in the entire atria in obese patients Outcomes of her study were published in Circulation EP and Heart Rhythm Journal.
She found that obese patients have a higher post-operative AF burden and that particularly Bachmann's bundel is affected by obesity.
